Slow management

Management is a practice that runs on ideas. Unfortunately, ideas organizations must constantly change are prevalent. This can easily lead to junky ‘Fast Management’: management change-obsessed, attention-starved and over-hyped; binges mass-produced ideas; lacks substance. Inspired by the Slow Food Movement, this paper develops more wholesome alternative. about doing less, but better thoughtful less flashy. It emphasizes context-specific craft-based dimension of managerial work; necessity industry-specific, non-transferable competence; long-term commitment-dependent nature substantive organizational improvement innovation.
